Today’s the last day. How did you do?

I think I did alright. Hopefully some of my intentional efforts have become automatic ones.

I did pretty well, I'd say. I've been a lot more intentional about certain things over these few weeks.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Find Local Recycling Depots
Our ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors, including market demand for recyclables. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?

    William Bechtel's avatar
    William Bechtel 4/17/2023 11:46 AM
In many cases it is necessary to pay to recycle these item. But, to me, it’s worth it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Tour A Waste Management Facility
Field trip! What a fun way to learn about our impact and consumption! What facility did you tour? What did you learn?

    William Bechtel's avatar
    William Bechtel 4/17/2023 11:45 AM
I toured the landfill near Newville. I was surprised at just how big it is.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste RESEARCH LOCAL WASTE SITES
In what neighborhoods or areas of your region are landfills or other waste sites located? Which communities are most affected by these locations?

    William Bechtel's avatar
    William Bechtel 4/17/2023 11:44 AM
The closest lane fill to here is near Newville. The odor from it can be noticeable in the area near it. Methane is produced and water can be contaminated from it. Keeping items out of the landfill helps a lot.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Personal Waste Audit
Why is it so difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places? How might your experience with this challenge impact your future consumption and choices?

    William Bechtel's avatar
    William Bechtel 4/17/2023 11:42 AM
Milosz people are so separated from the production of goods that they never even consider the impacts.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Use an Energy Meter
How can you make your dorm room, apartment, or house more energy efficient?

    William Bechtel's avatar
    William Bechtel 4/17/2023 11:41 AM
Start by unplugging things not in use. Just the transformer to charge a phone or computer use more energy than you might think.

What a beautiful day to enjoy some sunshine! I went fishing and played disc golf a Codorus State Park.
