Brennen Dickerson 4/21/2023 8:10 AMCouldn't ask for a better day on our last day. Can't wait to spend a ton of time outside and unplugged from screens! -
Brennen Dickerson 4/20/2023 6:35 AMTook the kiddos outside for class today so that
1. we could enjoy this beautiful weather
2. I could have all my devices turned off in my classroom
3. They could run around a bit after we finished our readings -
Brennen Dickerson 4/19/2023 11:30 AMSeveral days in a row now if no processed sugar. Feeling good! -
Brennen Dickerson 4/17/2023 7:28 AMI spent the weekend working on getting a garden ready. I don't know how much I'll be able to grow this season, but I'm excited about being able to produce some of my own produce! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Reduce refined sugarBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?
Brennen Dickerson 4/17/2023 7:25 AMI was very addicted to sugar (the curse of my previous life as a pastry chef). This is the hardest part of the challenge for me, as a result. Having gone a few days without sugar, I'm feeling good but I'm still feeling the itch for some.-
Kelli Group 4/21/2023 12:41 PMSomething that's helped me with sugar addiction is to have some frozen fruit on hand at home (mango, raspberries etc) that I can snack on when having a sugar craving (or blitz it with some coconut milk/cream for 'ice cream').

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth More Fruits and VeggiesHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?
Brennen Dickerson 4/17/2023 7:23 AMI always feel much better whenever I'm focused on getting a proper amount of fruits and vegetables into my diet. Helping myself feel better physically makes me want to continue cooking/shopping healthier which helps my family stay healthy. Reducing the amount of meat I eat can help the planet by not so frequently supporting the meat industry. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Brennen Dickerson 4/17/2023 7:21 AMI think that a constant reminder of the good I see in the world can motivate me to want that same good to be around for my daughter and other future generations. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Brennen Dickerson 4/13/2023 8:24 AMNow that my daughter is getting old enough, she has started mimicking me when I exercise. So, soon enough she'll be able to actually join in which will be fun daddy-daughter time. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Go For A Daily Walk OutsideFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Brennen Dickerson 4/12/2023 6:19 AMDuring the fitness challenge, I found that I was much more focused during my planning period if I started it off with a walk around the school. Now that the weather is nice, the fresh air is only helping things when I take my walk outside. -
Brennen Dickerson 4/12/2023 6:10 AMEnjoying this so far! I find my room has been more chill since I've been relying on natural light as opposed to the light bulbs.
