Ellie's actions
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 20 minute(s) each day.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Nature
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area.
Simplicity
Track my Purchases
I will spend 2 minutes each day maintaining a record of all my purchases and learning about my spending habits.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 2 meatless meal(s) and/or 1 vegan meal(s) each day this week.
Community
LEARN ABOUT TRANS, FEMME, AND NONBINARY EXPERIENCES
I will spend 30 minutes learning about the experiences of trans, femme, and/or nonbinary people.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity LEARN ABOUT TRANS, FEMME, AND NONBINARY EXPERIENCESHow is equality for trans, femme, and nonbinary people important to a just and sustainable society?
Ellie Pattillo 4/06/2023 8:51 AMIf our society isn't just and sustainable for everyone, and if it isn't attentive to the specific needs of different marginalized groups, then it is NOT a just and sustainable society. Period. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?
Ellie Pattillo 4/06/2023 8:50 AMIf I decide to refuse a disposable bag, I typically try to carry things out in my hands which usually results in things falling everywhere. I really need to make sure I'm keeping an extra reusable bag balled up into my tote bag so that I always have an extra on hand. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Ellie Pattillo 4/04/2023 9:22 AMI love incorporating time for gratitude, self-reflection, and self-care into my exercise routine! Taking walks is one of the best ways I can clear my mind and take time for myself. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Ellie Pattillo 4/04/2023 7:50 AMI find that taking time to recognize the effort that my friends, family, and peers are putting into creating a better world makes me more motivated to work for a better world, too! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Track my PurchasesWhat have you noticed about your purchases? Where are you inclined to make shifts, if any?
Ellie Pattillo 4/04/2023 6:46 AMIt's important to look at what I'm spending a lot of money on and how these are often impulse buys (on food, for example) because of a lack of meal planning earlier in the week. I'm thinking that I need to do more planning in order to cut down on consumerism and waste coming from impulse take-out!-
Michael Hughey 4/04/2023 7:31 AMThis is a great idea! Meal planning is a great way to make sure you only buy and use what you need and then you can hit two targets at once- reducing spending and reducing food waste!
