elena's actions
Nature
Support Local Pollinators
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators to produce fruit. I will spend 30 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard or local community garden.
Nature
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 30 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside.
Community
Host A Watch Party
I will host a watch party to screen a documentary about an issue that matters to me.
Simplicity
Needs Vs. Wants
I will adopt a "Needs Vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 10-minute walk outside each day.
Food
Zero-Waste Cooking
I will cook 2 meal(s) with zero-waste each day
Health
Support Pollution Reduction
I will spend at least 30 minutes learning about water and air quality issues in my area, how they are impacting human and environmental health, and how I can help.
Health
Joyful Movement
I will spend 10 minutes doing an activity where I'm both moving my body and enjoying myself.
Community
Research Restorative Justice
I will spend 30 minutes learning about restorative justice and conflict resolution opportunities in my own community or state.
Health
More Fruits and Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 2 cup(s) of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
Waste
Prevent Recycling Contamination
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 10 minutes researching which materials are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community and recycle only those items.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Food
Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
I will watch 1 documentary(ies) about food sovereignty: the right of local peoples to control their own food systems including markets, ecological resources, food cultures and production methods.
Health
Practice Loving-Kindness Meditation
I will spend 10 minutes practicing Loving-Kindness Meditation to nurture love and compassion for myself and others.
Waste
Learn About & Practice Sustainable Fashion
I will learn about sustainable fashion and begin trying to practice it in my own life.
Community
Support Native Communities
I will use the resource links provided below and spend 30 minutes learning about the native populations that lived in my area prior to colonization, and what I can do to support those that still exist.
Energy
Learn About Renewable Energy
I will spend 30 minutes learning more about renewable energy alternatives (i.e. solar, wind, biomass) in my region.
Energy
Online Energy Audit
I will complete an online energy audit of my home, office, or dorm room and identify my next steps for saving energy.
Simplicity
Eat Mindfully
I will eat all of my meals without distractions, e.g., phone, computer, TV, or newspaper.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

elena trbovic 4/21/2023 6:34 AM19 days is way too short! it flew by so quickly but it will be cool to keep incorporating these actions into my daily life. -
elena trbovic 4/19/2023 5:56 PMTime has been flying i didnt realize there are only two days left! -
elena trbovic 4/13/2023 7:19 PMMy challenge is still going well! I have yet to complete my one time actions but i will hopefully get to them this week sometime. One thing that is frustrating me though is recycling on campus. I feel like no one really understands how to recycle and they chose to ignore the recycling efforts. I just get a little upset when i put effort into my recycling but the recycling bit is full of trash and therefore can no longer be recycled. -
elena trbovic 4/10/2023 5:54 PMMy eco challenge is going well! I havent been doing all of my daily actions but i have been trying. I love the chance to be more mindful :)
