    Nature Support Local Pollinators
Why is it important to take care of pollinators?

Pollinators are essential to a HUGE portion of our food supply.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Limit Social Media
Social media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also create echo chambers and take more time than we realize or intend to give. After completing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?

Trying to limit social media is tricky. it really sucks you in. When I am successful, I LOVE it. I quit facebook a few years ago and it has been such an improvement. I haven't quit my other social media- but I am enjoying to extra time and feel better when I'm not getting sucked into bad news.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?

When I pause to reflect and tell people thank you or praise them, it reminds me how much good there already is. It is really easy in our world, to hear news and think that PEOPLE are inherently bad- or problematic. Or that it is too much work to motivate people to do good. But reflecting makes me realize how many people are really trying to do good!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Reduce Single-Use Disposables
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted instead?

    Audrey Wronski's avatar
    Audrey Wronski 4/05/2023 7:34 AM
Right now, I feel like I do pretty well with avoiding single use plastics like straws and grocery bags- the ones that have easy to get alternatives. I even have a reusable K-cup. However- it's really challenging with some of the single use packaging. There are products that are packaged in plastic containers where there isn't much of a market to recycle them. I'm trying to be better about looking for alternatives to buying things in plastic packaging.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Go by Bike
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking, or driving?

    Audrey Wronski 4/04/2023 8:15 AM
I love riding my bike to work. I see students on the way and they often ask me about biking to school when they see me. I just moved back to a location that is close enough to bike- so I'm very excited to be biking again!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water 5-Minute Showers
Name some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?

    Audrey Wronski's avatar
    Audrey Wronski 4/03/2023 9:18 AM
There are so many actions we take that impact our water. I try to focus on reducing runoff where I can to minimize different pollutants that can get into our local streams. We are connected to the Chesapeake bay, which has high nutrients and sediment from agriculture. Minimizing erosion in our area can help with that.
