  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Practice Gratitude for Earth
Kathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?

Absolutely. I'd think of that mostly in terms of people, since when people do nice things for me most certainly feel the need to do something for them in return. Nature is a little bit harder for me to conceptualize that way, being inanimate and not able to judge me for being ungrateful, but I can see that too.
Cultivating gratitude, my thought would be to intentionally deprive oneself of something. Rather than taking it for granted but having it, having it be entirely absent and not being able to even passively enjoy the benefits of its presence might jog one's sense of gratitude. Sort of the idea of not knowing how good you have it till it's gone.
Consider what things would be like without those things we might be grateful for..

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Power Down the Computer
What are other easy things you could do to save energy and reduce your environmental footprint?

I hear that one shouldn't leave their devices charging overnight. Even once they're fully charged, they still draw power, which is wasted over the course of however many hours before you wake up and unplug them. I'm bad at this because I don't think I have enough time in the morning to fully charge everything and I like having my phone at full charge before going about my day, but I suppose I ought to give it a shot.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Simplicity Go For A Daily Walk Outside
Fresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?

    Amos Ek 4/19/2023 9:24 PM
Always gives me a good opportunity to think over everything else that's happened that day, which usually also helps reduce a lot of anxiety. Sort of stepping out of the mess of vague but imminent things to do lets me clear my head and approach it all more effectively afterward.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Eat Mindfully
Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?

I spend less time at the meal, and generally don't quite know what to do with my face, so I stare into space and then leave.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Meditate
What would you like to invest more time in reflecting on?

Other people, and how I relate to them. I wanna reflect more on the things I have in common with others.
